Day #10…Monday, February 9, 2015
Sea Day #2 Heading to Brazil

We arose and went to the Horizon Court for breakfast.  Our balcony has shade in the morning hours so we returned to our cabin and spent some time reading there.  We planned the rest of our day and will be getting together with our new friends from Dayton this afternoon.  They have expressed interest in joining us for some private port tours.  We had booked most of our excursions, in advance, with Princess Cruises for this trip, knowing that we could cancel without penalty within 72 hours of the tours.   We hoped that we would find some individuals who would like to go privately and save us all a considerable amount of money.

We attended a special interest lecture titled “Remarkable Women Who Ruled Empires” presented by guest lecturer Captain Vincent Williams.  The lecture was focused on Catherine the Great of Russia and Maria Theresa of Austria.

We spent a short time at one of the pools but the temperature was so hot, we only lasted about thirty (30) minutes in the sun and returned to our cabin.  There were no pool chairs available in the shade but our balcony provided a place to keep cool and shaded.

An art auction provided entertainment for us in the afternoon.  Dennis added a cartoon cell to his collection of golfer caricatures after giving a winning bid for “Golfer Betty Boop.”  He already had the Pink Panther, Taz, Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, Woody Woodpecker and Daffy Duck in his collection.

We then met our new friends on the 15th deck and visited with them for an hour.   We had dinner with our friends, Bill and Stella and Rubin and Ann and then spent the evening listening to a guitarist musician in the Piazza.

Tomorrow is another sea day as we continue to head to our first port of call in Brazil.  We will be crossing the equator at about 3 PM tomorrow afternoon and there will be festivities on board to mark the event.  We also forwarded our clocks another hour as we prepare ourselves for Brazilian time.
