Day #11…Tuesday, February 10, 2015
Sea Day #3 Heading to Brazil

Since we had to forward our clocks before bedtime last night, we slept a little later this morning before heading to the Horizon Court for breakfast.  Immediately after breakfast, we walked to the theater to attend a destination presentation titled “Salvador de Bahia”, our next port of call.  We have pre-booked a private tour there with Do Brazil Right, Inc. with tour guide Marcelo Zahar.  We surely hope that he is at the terminal when we get there, as we have already pre-paid his tour fees by PayPal.

The port of call presentation provided us with some valuable information.  We will be arriving on Friday, February 13th in Salvador.  The city will be celebrating the beginning of Carnival and so we will be able to attend some of the festivities.

After the lecture, we spent the rest of the morning in the International Café.  In the afternoon, we headed to the pool area and found the weather to be so much more pleasant than yesterday.  There was a nice breeze and lower humidity so we spent the rest of the afternoon there.  Our Dayton friends, Judy and Frank, joined us in the late afternoon.  We made plans to take a private tour in Santos, Brazil with them and cancel our pre-booked excursion reservations with Princess Cruises.

We crossed the equator about 3:15 PM today and the ship’s staff had a Neptune celebration to honor those who were making the crossing for the first time.  A captain’s party and special Princess 50th anniversary dinner was held in the Botticelli Dining Room, our first seating location for the whole cruise.  Our waiter, Luciana, is from Santos, Brazil and provided some information regarding what to see and where to go in her hometown.

In the later evening, we attended a theater production titled “Colors of the World” starring the Ruby Princess Singers and Dancers.  Tomorrow is another sea day as we continue to head to Salvador, Brazil.
