Sea Day #3…Heading to Valparaiso, Chile
Dennis had a miserable night and says he feels better since
his fever broke during the night. He
still feels ill but is stubborn and will not visit the medical center
today. There are so many sick people on
board right now and the medical center had to extend its hours to care for all
the sick passengers. Another
announcement today indicated that more and more cruise passengers have symptoms
of influenza. We both were vaccinated before
the trip but fear that we are not protected due to a different influenza
strain.
Bonnie had a nail appointment at 8:00 A.M. and was quite
impressed again with the professional technique that Kellean from Jamaica uses
when she applies shellac. The prices
here are so high but the applications are excellent. A pedicure is scheduled in a couple of days.
Dennis is confining himself to the cabin and the bed. He has no appetite and has had a low grade
fever today. He has started to have a
mild cough and is very pale. Bonnie
encouraged him to go the medical center but he says he just wants to rest. He is afraid of being exposed to other
illnesses and problems if he sits in the waiting room for very long.
Bonnie attended a destination lecture for Coquimbo-La
Serena. We will be taking a private tour
of the area with some passengers from Marion, Ohio who organized a group
tour. The is the plan at present, unless
Dennis is not better by day after tomorrow.
Our friends have called our cabin several times today to
check on Dennis. We are so lucky that we
have met such kind and caring people on our travels. We feel like we have known them all our
lives!

Later…Dennis is feeling well enough to eat a light
supper. His fever has ceased and he said
he would like to see the entertainment in the theater tonight. Don Bryan and Noseworthy and Jade will be
combining their talents for us.
We retired as soon as the show ended and will see what
tomorrow brings as far as our Valparaiso ventures. Much depends on Dennis and how he feels. Hopefully Bonnie will stay well and healthy.
