Sea Day #2…Heading to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

We sent some emails early this morning to Ellie and Jeff asking if they needed us to fly home from Puerto Vallarta.  We will wait for a response as we have already received emails from Princess Cruises giving us some alternate flights home, if we elect to leave the cruise a few days early.

After breakfast, we did attend the destination lecture for Puerto Vallarta.  We have never been there and thought that the information would be helpful for the future since we may be flying home that day.  An additional special lecture focused on Charles Manson and his disciples.  Robert Schirn has offered some very interesting but chilling presentations on investigations through the LA District Attorney’s office.

We spent the rest of the day in the shade by the Terrace Pool with Frank and Judy.  We played some euchre and enjoyed some bar refreshments.

Dinner was spent with our tablemates and Bonnie was presented a cake by the wait staff to celebrate her retirement.  The show in the theater was another Princess repeat so we opted to play some cards with Bill and Stella and then retired to our cabin.

We called Jeff from the ship’s phone and he said Ellie was arriving home tonight and would be making funeral arrangements for her dad tomorrow.  Arrangements will be made to bring his body back to Ohio in the next few days.  Many friends and family members have offered to help them until we get back late Saturday night.  Ellie emailed us and said Gary’s friends and co-workers in LA will assist her with things that need done in the immediate future there.

On another note, we are quite upset with Princess Air.  We received a letter in our cabin mailbox tonight that said that they had changed our original departure flight on Saturday to a totally different flight.  They did not call or give us any heads up and even had the flight times wrong in the letter.  We immediately went to the Passenger Services desk and their assistance was worthless.  They, too, gave us yet another set of WRONG times for our revised flight and had little explanation for changing it in the first place.  When Dennis went on line to verify the flight, there were only two seats left in economy class and seating was very far apart.  We had to upgrade to deluxe comfort class to get seats together and that cost us an additional $69.00 each!  Needless to say, we also emailed our Princess agent in Seattle to complain, but we probably will be lucky if we get any satisfaction at all.  The excuse they used to change our flight was because they were afraid that our original flight was leaving too early for us to disembark the ship and get to the airport in time.  Our flight departure time was 12 Noon and our tablemates flight time is 11:15 AM and we were changed and they were not.  Now figure that one out…
